The war between the Kavač and Škaljar clans reached its peak in 2020, judging by numerous liquidations, injuries, prevented killings and disappearances.
The crimes occurred in front of witnesses, in the middle of the day, bombs were planted and no victims were saved. “Škaljarci” suffered significant losses and lost four high-ranking members.
As early as January, while they were sitting with their families in a restaurant in Athens, four black-clad attackers with long cannons entered the bar and fired a hail of bullets at Igor Dedović and Stevan Stamatović.
Invisible executions
– Although the method of execution was unprecedented until then, because the criminals began to commit suicide in front of women and children, which was not the practice until then, the researchers arrived at a data. Two nights before the murder in Athens, in Belgrade, at almost the same time, in front of two children and in front of the school, Marko Vukovic, who was the godfather of rival clan leader Kavac Radoje Zvicer, was shot – investigators revealed how the most brutal clan clashes started earlier in the year.
Film sales continued throughout Europe, but also on the streets of Belgrade and Montenegro. A big hit for the “couch people” also followed. In May, leader Radoje Zvicer was injured in Ukraine. He survived and, two months later, reprisals continued: “resellers” Alan Kožar and Damir Hadžić were liquidated in Corfu.
– These liquidations show that it is no longer just a clan war for drugs, but that it has turned into revenge and a fight for power – concludes the interlocutor.
The rise of a new clan
Those familiar with the situation claim that during 2020 a new criminal group was strengthened in Belgrade, consisting of fanatics who trust “sofa people”. Before long, in terms of brutality and violence, they allegedly reached the infamous Zemun clan, which ruled underground in the 1990s.
– In the second half of the year the disappearance of several young people who were put in contact with a criminal group was reported. Nothing has been known about their fate for months, except that it is said underground that most of them were killed and their bodies mutilated and buried. In addition, the unconfirmed information says that the disappeared were mostly related to the “escalar”, explains the interlocutor.
The arrest of Darko Elez
PARTNERED WITH THE KAVAČKI KLAN
A significant blow to the Kavac clan and the new criminal group formed in Belgrade was killed shortly before the end of the year with the arrest of Darko Elez. Although he was detained in Batajnica, according to an order issued against him by Bosnia and Herzegovina, sources of the investigation revealed that his detention could be important to solve several settlements, first of all the defense lawyer and friend of Luka Bojović, Dragoslav’s lawyer Mišo Ognjanović in July 2018, but and Strahinja Stojanovic in September 2020.
Police Minister
THE LARGEST MAPFIATES WILL FALL
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Minister of Police, Aleksandar Vulin, after the bloody clashes that marked last year, announced the fiercest fight against crime, in which no one will be saved.
– Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić declared war on organized crime and the mafia. Whoever did not take it seriously, made a big mistake – said Vulin, adding that in the confrontation with the mafia, “the biggest gangsters will fall first”, as well as that there are no protected people.
