The earthquake that hit Croatia today severely damaged Serbian Orthodox churches and parsons in Petrinja and Sisak, announced the Information Service of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC).
“The damage to the church of St. Petka and the rectory in Sisak is such that the worship services and the life in them are permanently disabled,” the statement read.
The Church of St. Spyridon, as well as the rectory building in Petrinja, were so damaged that they were out of service, the Serbian Orthodox Church declared.
Sisak and Petrinja priests and their families were forced to leave their homes, Pastor Veselin Ristic, pastor of Sisak, told the Information Service of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
According to the latest balance, a 6.2 earthquake on the Richter scale that shook central Croatia killed seven people and injured 26.
The epicenter was in the Petrinja area, while the earthquake was felt in neighboring countries.
