Vučić arrived at the property in Golubinci, where he spoke with the farm owner and the citizens present.
The president asked Matic how many hectares he cultivates, how much work is needed in the season and investments in equipment.

President Vučić also heard from Matić that they have a very good cooperation with the Japanese company JTI.

Most tobacco growers are refugees who have found the opportunity for a “new life” in tobacco production.

At the farm, Vučić also spoke with Slobodanka and Dalibor Stevanović from Hrtkovac, refugees from Croatia, also tobacco producers, as well as the native Nebojsa Tubić.

Meeting with representatives of JTI and tobacco producers

After visiting the farm, President Vučić, the management of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and the tobacco growers who have a contract with this company started the meeting. The meeting is held on the occasion of the successful tobacco harvest season in 2020 and the record yields achieved in the plantations of this crop.

According to the company, JTI is the only foreign investor that finances the production and purchases of domestic tobacco. This year, it is achieving record results: tobacco seedlings cover an area of ​​up to 1,700 hectares of land, while yields exceed 2,000 kilograms per hectare.

JTI is located in Senta.

The company directly or indirectly employs around 3,000 workers and, since the purchase of Tobacco Industry Senta in 2006, JTI has invested more than $ 181 million in Serbia, tripled its market share and launched production and exports to Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Albania, as well as exports to the EU.

Vučić: I thank Japan for tobacco

– I am very happy to have been a guest in the family at Golubinci. I want to thank the tobacco from Japan, I have visited their factory in Senta several times. The Japanese somehow started arriving in Vojvodina, especially in Srem and Bačka, says Vučić.

“Each of these farms employs between 40 and 60 seasonal workers,” added Vučić.

– We will make a new plan … We will work significantly on regional and local roads in Vojvodina – said the president.

On the state of health of Milorad Dodik

– As for Dodik’s state of health, he is in Banja Luka, yesterday we sent a team of our doctors there, Goran Stevanović was there too. I talk to Dodik 2-3 times a day. I am not a doctor, the condition is not ideal, but it is not terrible either – said the president.

Vučić on vaccination

– Vaccination will begin tomorrow in Serbia, in nursing homes – said Vučić, adding that the older citizens and the most threatened.
