BELGRADE – The police arrested an elderly man in Baric, near Obrenovac, for obstructing an official in the performance of his official duties.
The suspect was attacked by employees of the Obrenovac Municipality inspection affairs department and JKP Obrenovac.
They were in front of the yard of the suspect in official service due to the removal of the garbage deposited from the public area. The suspect threatened, cursed and physically assaulted people.
Then he poured gasoline on the deposited garbage, and then on himself and, holding a lighter in his hand, threatened to set everything on fire.
The police managed to defeat him and he was transferred to a psychiatric hospital in Belgrade. After the examination, the suspect was released from the hospital. After the approval of the Obrenovac Prosecutor’s Office, he was ordered to remain in detention for up to 48 hours.
