Until 1890, Karadjordjevic’s baptismal feast was Saint Clement. The heir to the throne Petar changed his fame after the death of his wife Zorka, because he believed that it would bring him misfortune. He chose the new glory of Saint Andrew, in memory of the day his father, Prince Alexander, was overthrown in 1858.

The heirs of the Royal Family, Prince Filip Karadjordjevic, with his wife Danica and their son Stefan, Prince Mihailo with his wife, Princess Ljubica and their daughter Natalija, met this morning at the Church of St. George in Oplenac, where they celebrated his baptism.

The liturgy and cake cutting were also attended by Princess Linda and the manager of the King Peter I Foundation, Dragan Reljić.

Prince Philip broke the celebration cake with the priest, and on that occasion he congratulated all the celebrators and all the Karadjordjevics.

Saint Andrew is the apostle of Constantinople and Russia, and he was also the patron of the Russian Empire and the house of the Romanovs.

According to tradition, Saint Andrew was the older brother of the Apostle Peter and a disciple of Saint John the Baptist, and he preached the Gospel in Byzantium and Thrace, in the Danube countries, and then in Russia and around the Black Sea, in Epirus, Greece and the Peloponnese, where he died.
