Meteorologist Nedeljko Todorovic said December in Serbia will pass without major rainfall.
He told Prva TV that even a rise in daily temperatures would follow from Tuesday.
“About 7 to 10 days will be foggy and morning frost, but daily temperatures will be 3 to 5 degrees above average. It will be around 7 degrees, and some days up to 12 degrees,” he announced.
Todorovic said there will be a three-day cooldown with clouds and precipitation on December 25, but precipitation is unlikely to be in the lower regions.
“My estimate is that there would be snow only in the mountainous areas, and in the lower areas there would be mostly rain and a small amount,” he said.
Asked whether there will be snowy winters in the low-lying regions, as well as during New Year’s Eve, which could cheer citizens this winter, Todorovic said he would have to disappoint viewers and that it was not yet ripe for snowfall in the lower regions.
“Looking at the changes, there is still a high probability that there will be rainfall in January and February, the rain and snow will change,” said Todorović.
He also noted that there will be baskets, probably before December 25, as well as the north wind.
“The whole winter would be a little warmer than average, be it a degree or two, it’s hard to say. There will be cold parts of January, with rainfall around or slightly below average, and December will be a dry month,” he said .
He added that each season is a story in itself, that there are no strict laws, but only when analyzing the previous winters, 1941-42. winters were very strong, with 80 cm of snow in Belgrade.
“You can see the rate at which a colder variant of winter is encountered every 22 years. The last coldest winter was February 2012, when both the Sava and the Danube froze,” he emphasized.
