The elderly Dragan Lazović (84) was handcuffed on Thursday night on suspicion that he strangled his wife Georgina (80) with a cane. The family crime occurred in the Zlatar settlement in the village of Vrbica in Bukulja near Arandjelovac during a quarrel between the spouses. Immediately after Georgina’s death, Dragan called his grandson and told him that his grandmother had died during a bitter dispute.

– We fight as usual. Grandma yelled at me. When I responded, that’s when he got up and started hitting me with the cane he was walking with. She whipped a little so it fell from her hands. I grabbed it and holding a stick with both hands, I approached her and said, “Who are you raising your hand to?” She answered me, and in a fit of rage I reached out, put a stick under her throat and pressed it against her neck. A second later, the grandmother just fell, and I immediately called my grandson and told him what had happened – Dragan told his neighbors during the investigation.
Neighbors: a web of unfortunate circumstances
Neighbors say it is all a combination of unfortunate circumstances and that Dragan and Georgina are highly respected in this divided town. – Dragan kept Vasojevic a lot to himself and his origin, and when he was younger, one look was enough to point at Georgina and she knew how to retreat. Well, now he is old and disabled, and he thought that he would still be his main character and what happened will happen – said one of the neighbors.
After the investigation was completed, the Kragujevac Senior Prosecutor ordered an autopsy and the suspect was arrested and the police ordered his arrest.
Unofficially, traces of drowning were noted on the unfortunate woman’s neck, but only after the end of the autopsy will the cause of death be known with certainty.
As we found out, there have never been reports of domestic violence in her home.
