In Vračar, in Ulica prote Mateje, early this morning there was a bloody confrontation in which a man Ivan Ž. (3. 4). He was shot by Goran L. (51), who allegedly did so in self-defense. According to unofficial information, Goran L. is supposedly known from before because he had a criminal record with acts in the field of economic crime.
According to the first information, the wounded Ivan ® initially waited in front of the entrance of Goran L.’s building and began to attack him with a hammer. Then he pulled out a pistol and shot him.
As residents of this area of Vracar told “Blic”, both men allegedly live on the street where the incident occurred. One of the tenants we spoke to woke up early this morning to a shooting.
Police conducted an investigation at the scene and took images from cameras on the street, as well as the entrance to the nearby Nikola Tesla Museum, to piece together what happened this morning.
– The shots woke me up this morning, I don’t know exactly how many there were, but I heard … I saw a man lying on the ground from the terrace, but I didn’t recognize him … – said one of the neighbors to “Blic”.
“This never happened”
The bloody incident shocked the inhabitants of this peaceful part of the city.
– I have lived here since 1967. Something like this has never happened here, there is private security here, the cameras are everywhere, I really don’t know who should shoot here – said the neighbor.
Tenants fear for their safety
One of the wounded from a nearby bar said he heard from people coming this morning.
– I heard that both the wounded man and the shooter were from this street. Honestly, I’m a little scared because if it happens in such a quiet area … Apparently one of them was coming from the other side of the street, waiting for the other and attacking him, after which he would shoot him – a worker from one of the Bars explained by “Blic” on this street.
According to tenants, one of the participants in the incident often walked the dogs in the area and on the street, and allegedly lived there recently.
– We have been wondering since this morning who he is, it is possible that someone has recently rented a flat, because we would know that he is one of the older tenants, most of us know them all. Many famous people live here, generally those who have problems with the law did not choose to live here, but it is obvious that this confrontation looks like this – added one of the neighbors.

Neighbors wonder why the man Goran L. had a pistol with which he shot Ivan Ž.
– It is suspected that the wounded man had previously waited for GL in front of the building in Vračar, together with another suspect who was identified and searched, after which he was assaulted. GL then, as suspected, fired a weapon – announced the Interior Ministry.
He is also treated in the Emergency Center.
Due to the existence of reasons to suspect that he committed the crimes of attempted homicide and the illicit production, possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosives, the suspect Goran L. was detained for up to 48 hours and will be transferred to the Superior Public Ministry.
