The Minister of European Integration, Jadranka Joksimović, stated that people, when talking about negotiating chapters in the negotiations between Serbia and the EU, are used to thinking in routine patterns, but that the essence is that the way to conduct politics of enlargement has changed and that Serbia has shown participation. in all major EU policies.
Jadranka Joksimović told RTS that this year Serbia has shown not only that it is a credible state, but also showed economic resilience in the conditions of a pandemic, and citizens received medical care in difficult conditions.
He added that Serbia has shown that it participates in all the major policies of the EU, from Kovacs, to the procurement of medicines, climate change and digitization.
According to the new methodology, the minister said, the chapters are divided into six groups dealing with essential EU policies.
On the rule of law, which was the biggest objection for Serbia, Joksimović said that the elections, and then the formation of the parliament and the government, were postponed, and that there were objective delays.
But that is why, as he says, the new government immediately began to implement the action implementation plan for group one.
He explained that he was in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Health and that they presented him with a serious plan to implement reforms in the field of the rule of law.
Constitutional amendments were sent to the Assembly and an action plan was adopted for the implementation of the media strategy. Furthermore, Joksimović says that Greko’s recommendations for the fight against corruption have been published.
Joksimovic said that the EU itself acknowledged that it took time to find ways to apply the new methodology to countries that are already in the negotiation process, and that the negotiations between North Macedonia and Albania are in the sign of bilateral conditions and that this was reflected in the issue of enlargement.
