The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, spoke with the ambassadors of the member states of the European Union (EU) in Serbia and the head of the EU delegation, Sam Fabrici, about the accession negotiations of Serbia and the EU, the stability in the region and regional projects, as well as the European Investment Plan presented by the European Commission. about enlargement.

Vučić confirmed that cooperation with the EU and full membership remain one of the key priorities of Serbia’s foreign policy, his cabinet announced.

He stressed that Serbia is “sincerely committed to further and deeper reforms, which it addresses responsibly and seriously” and that, through cooperation with the Union institutions and its members, it strives to adopt and apply best practices.

“Serbia will remain committed to peace and stability in the region by improving bilateral relations with its neighbors, as well as strengthening regional cooperation while respecting all agreements concluded,” said Vucic, adding that the European future of the Western Balkans is extremely important. . for the stability of the entire region, as well as for the security and greater prosperity of the EU.

The ambassadors noted that the statements on the common regional market and the “Western Balkans Green Agenda” were very well received in Brussels and in the EU countries, and that the good and strong connections and integration of the region facilitated in largely the Union’s cooperation with the Western Balkans.

“Up to 70 percent of foreign investment comes from countries whose representatives are sitting here today,” Fabrizi said, adding that Serbia can be sure that the EU will continue to support and invest in its economy.

Fabrizi said that with the Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, the EU will continue to be Serbia’s strongest partner for economic recovery, supporting infrastructure, both for the “green” and digital transition.

“We are pleased with the announced reforms to the rule of law, including reforms to the judiciary and freedom of the media. This is the basis for accelerating the accession process and we encourage the new government to continue working and implementing in this direction. Fabrizi said.

Vučić emphasized that Serbia highly appreciates the fact that, despite the challenges, the EU managed to keep the issue of enlargement on its agenda, especially through the recent adoption of a new and modified methodology of the negotiation process.

“We hope that the EU will monitor and assess the dynamics of Serbia’s accession negotiations and assess our reform efforts,” Vucic said, emphasizing that Serbia is ready to continue working with European partners on the implementation of reforms and other joint projects.
