Zoran Jaksic de Zrenjanin, one of the alleged leaders of the infamous América clan, was again attacked by Peruvian investigators, due to a secret tunnel that was discovered in one of the most guarded prisons, where Jaksic was imprisoned.

According to the Republic portal, the passage was discovered near the “Kastro Kastro” prison and was excavated so that Jaksic, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for drug trafficking, could escape for it.

– Jaksic and a Mexican, who is behind bars due to drugs, were supposed to escape through the tunnel. Through intelligence work we managed to find out that the Sinaloa Cartel criminal group paid more than half a million dollars for the tunnel – said the colonel of the specialized crime brigade, Víctor Revoredo. He revealed to the Republic that the first step the cartel took was to hire six people to dig the tunnel. Among them were Colombians, Mexicans and men of other nationalities.

The tunnel was supposed to run from Pavilion 1A of the “Castro Castro” prison to a nearby restaurant, owned by Jaksic.

– Construction of the “underground escape route” is believed to have started two years ago. However, the police received a warning that Jaksic was making plans to escape, and because of this, in February 2019, he was suddenly transferred to another prison. Now it has been revealed that the criminal group that dug the tunnel for him, when they learned of Jaksic’s move, suspended the works and filled the excavated part of the tunnel with sandbags. They did not bury the tunnel, because they were waiting a moment for it to be returned to “Castro” and then for the works to continue, the investigators discovered.
