BELGRADE – Due to the demonstrated courage and successful execution of the tasks in the fight against the coronavirus, and according to Article 112, paragraph 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, Article 17, article 9 of the Law on the Serbian Army, the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Army decrees on promotions to a higher rank.

The Head of the Military Health Administration, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovićić, was promoted to the rank of Major General, and the Chief of the Logistics Directorate (J-4) of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, Colonel Srdjan Petković, was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

The Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin and the Chief of Staff of the Serbian Army, General Milan Mojsilovic, delivered the decrees on behalf of the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Army and congratulated Major General Jovicic and the Brigadier General Petkovic for his promotions.

Major General Uglješa Jovićić graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad in 1984. During the armed conflicts in the former RFSY in 1991 and 1992, he was the commander of the medical squad of the First Guard Artillery Brigade. He completed his specialization in General Medicine at the Belgrade Medical School in 1996. During the NATO attack in 1999, he performed the duty of manager of the Garrison Ambulance in Kragujevac, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and was decorated by the President of the Republic. He received his doctorate in 2013 at the Kragujevac Faculty of Medicine. He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in 2018. He has been Chief of the Military Health Administration since 2018.

During the NATO attack in 1999, Brigadier General Srdjan Petkovic performed the duty of commander of the technical platoon in the 23rd Infantry Brigade of the Nis Corps of the Third Army. He completed command and personnel training in 2009, and General Staff training in 2013. He was promoted extraordinarily to the rank of colonel in 2014. He has been director of TRZ Čačak since 2014 and head of the Logistics Directorate of the General Staff of the Army of Serbia since 2019.

According to Major General Uglješa Jovicic, extraordinary promotion to a higher rank is the result not only of his personal work, but also of all colleagues in military health, especially at a time when everyone had an extremely important task: fighting against the Kovid-19 virus.

– Without other doctors and colleagues who carry military health, we would not be able to respond to the task before us. I thank the Supreme Commander, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff for acknowledging that we are trying to complete our tasks, and I thank them for recognizing my personal commitment. This is a huge obligation for me and an even bigger part. I can also say that I will promise that we will work even better and that we will improve military health, said General Jovicic.

Brigadier General Srdjan Petkovic said the promotion to a higher rank in the career of every professional military man is a special moment.

– For me, the promotion is a great recognition, satisfaction and honor, on the one hand and on the other, the obligation and the responsibility to carry out the next tasks, together with the members of the Logistics Department, the Central Logistics Base , the administrative and executive logistics bodies of the Serbian Army. unfettered completion of the tasks of the Serbian army composition, units and institutions. I thank my superiors, the Supreme Commander, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff for the trust shown, General Petković said.

The delivery of the promotion decree was attended by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Petar Cvetković, the Head of the Human Resources Directorate of the Brigadier General Staff Savo Iriškić and the Chief of the Personnel Directorate, Colonel Zlatko Mišić.
