Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić stated that a new pedestrian regime will be applied at the intersection of Makedonska and Dečanska streets starting next week, which will mean that traffic will stop in all directions at the same time to that pedestrians can cross the street, as in previous crosswalks. and obliquely, from one side to the other.

Vesić told Prva TV that the new sloping crosswalks at this intersection will be painted on Friday and Saturday, so that traffic regime would start on Sunday.

“It is not a model for all the crossroads, but only for the big ones,” Vesić said, adding that Belgrade will have a crossroads like many big European cities have.

Vesić also announced that at 322, out of some 650 intersections in Belgrade, new traffic lights will be installed with adaptive software that will calculate traffic density and, based on that, determine the length of the red or green light for vehicles and pedestrians.

He also said that all trams in Belgrade will receive recognition devices with the help of which they will pass through intersections without stopping.

“We will speed up every tram transport. The first will be the intersection of the Law School, where trams will always get an advantage,” Vesić said.
