“Help another in need” is a command that humanity can only survive on, especially in these dire times of the global kovid pandemic. on the road to even greater uncertainty … Migrants from Sombor, Kikinda, Obrenovac, Krnjača and Principovac raised money to help seriously ill Serbian children Anika, Minja and Oliver from the bottom of their hearts.
One of the most moving stories was recently started by the Syrian Kasim from the reception center in Sombor, when he wrote an invitation in Arabic to his compatriots and friends in need to help Serbian children.
– Anika is a girl from Serbia who suffers from a rare disease. To get cured, Anika needs a drug that costs an incredible 2.1 million euros. Serbian citizens have been collecting money for three months to help Anika survive. Anika has little time left to receive the medicine – Kasim explained in the letter the reason for the solidarity action to help the seriously ill girl.
And then in the continuation of the letter, he asked all human people to help Anika.
– I hereby invite you to organize and give our modest contribution and join the action of the citizens of Serbia in raising funds for medicine. If you want to join, there is a box in the center where we will collect the money, which we will eventually pay at the post office to Anika’s account and post the payment slip on the notice board. Also, everyone with a Serbian card by sending an SMS message: let’s enter 858 and send an SMS to 3030, “wrote Kasim.
The migrants translated the same text into Farsi and Arabic and to help the sick Minja and Oliver. It soon turned out that, in fact, people of goodwill spoke the same language.
A large number of users of reception centers throughout Serbia joined the solidarity action.
– Lately, I have seen many green posters of those children, on the social networks of my friends from Serbia and on billboards in Belgrade. I asked the camp director if he could explain what it was about. As soon as I heard the story, I asked if we could organize ourselves and join the action – emphasizes Kasim.
As he says, the help they collected is modest, but it is from the heart.
– I know it’s not a lot, but as far as I understand, people send text messages that raise money for treatment. I have been in Serbia for six months, I am very grateful for everything. Although we don’t want to stay here, why not join the action of the citizens of Serbia? I talked to other idiots and they were all in favor – explains Kasim, the creator of the idea of humanitarian action.
As he says, after three days of fundraising, the migrants went to the post office with a sign and asked to pay the money collected to Anika’s account.
– On social media, we invite migrants from other camps to join the action. I heard from a friend that the migrants also organized a camp in Kikinda, Krnjača and Obrenovac for Minja and Oliver. That makes me very happy, I would like the entire amount to be collected soon and for the children to have a chance at life – says Kasim.
