Mysterious stones with a strange smell fell on Dragan’s property VIDEO

ČAČAK – We are used to rain, snow and hail falling from the sky, but on a property in Konjevići near Čačak twelve years ago, it seems that nothing less than a meteor fell.

When Dragan Klajić (57) took a tour of the plot with a friend, in the middle of the road he saw a crater the size of one meter, which, as he says, was still smoking.

“When I saw that, I wondered who could light a fire in the middle of the road. I walked over and spread that fire with a tree, then I saw two fist-sized stones that were still hot. There was a crater around it ten times bigger than them, and I immediately thought that maybe a meteor had fallen, because no one had any other explanation. After a while, when the stones got cold, I packed them in a bag and took them home. The crater still smoked a bit “Dragan told RINA.

Left in the shed, the stones that probably fell from the sky in Čačak were almost forgotten. However, when it became known in February this year that a meteor weighing 5.5 tonnes likely fell in Slovenia and burned in Croatia, it reminded Klajić of the bag they still kept in the garage.

“I left it there and forgot it completely, until I saw something similar happening in the media. Then I took the bag and opened it, and the stones inside rusted, it was as if it had completely burned and shrunk from its original size. What remains gleams, as if it had crystals, and after twelve years a strange smell, similar to sulfur, is felt. I planned to hand this over to sampling institutions who would examine the origin, structure and perform detailed analysis of this unusual stone, where it came from and if it actually landed from space on my property, ”says Dragan.

It seems that the fertile land of Čačak is attractive to celestial bodies, because with the exception of the Klajić property, where “something strange” fell in 2008, a similar scenario occurred before that.

In October 1889, a meteor landed on a family mountain farm on Jelica Mountain during lunch. The pieces found were collected and studied by the professor of the Great School, Jovan Žujović, and the Museum of Natural History received as a gift a specimen that weighed about seven kilograms.

After that, also near Čačak in 1919, a car fell, an extremely bright meteor that is brighter than the planet Venus and which is accompanied by sound effects that occur during its disintegration, it was the last time its fall was recorded. officially on Serbian soil.
