A 48-year-old patient, who escaped from Leskovac kovid hospital five days ago and tried to commit suicide, has died, General Hospital director Nebojsa Dimitrijevic confirmed to Kurir.
“His treatment was exacerbated by his mental condition,” Dimitrijevic said.
This patient is from the vicinity of Leskovac and came to Leskovac hospital from Belgrade, where he currently lives.
“He was tested at one of Covid’s outpatient clinics, tested positive for the corona virus, and was sent to us for treatment. We knew nothing about him except that he was positive,” says Dimitrijevic.
The patient was admitted to the psychiatric ward, which became part of Kovid’s hospital, but escaped the next day, so the police found him and returned him 12 hours later.
“When we asked him where you were, he said he was going to help a friend lower the gutters,” says one of the covid patients.
An hour after the police left, the patient broke the mirror and cut himself in various places on his body.
“We tried to stop him, we fought with him, but he is very strong. Later, the health workers came running and barely overcame him,” says our interlocutor and adds:
“He had several stab wounds, one to the neck as well. Fortunately, it did not reach the carotid artery. Due to the suicide attempt, psychiatrists were hired and an acute psychosis was determined,” added Dimitrijevic.
However, a few hours after suturing, the patient broke the sutures and sutured again. He was isolated and alone in the room.
By the way, this is not the first case of Leskovac residents escaping from Kovid hospital. At the beginning of the epidemic, a man escaped from the Infectious Diseases Service and the police found him at his home.
A pregnant woman from Leskovac later escaped treatment at the Nis Clinical Center, so the police also had to intervene.
