The main ones were the most difficult and the longest, because, as always, they marked the 35 “Days of the Fool”. More modest than in previous years, but still traditional. So as not to interrupt the biggest and most beautiful party in Kikinda. And one of the best in Serbia.

This year, Čurug’s Dušan Jankov and Kikinda’s Goran Lazić were the biggest contributors to that. Jankov won again, for the fourth time, with the heaviest madness of up to 588.5 kilograms. Second place, with a 431 kilogram squash, went to Zemun’s Diana Vukadinović. The third was Lazić, his pumpkin weighed 330 kilograms.

– It takes half a year to grow a pumpkin like this. My mother and I raised her. It is the same size as last year, but it is less meaty so it is light. It is not a GMO, but a proven “Atlantic” variety, created by crossing large and Hungarian white Mexican pumpkins. Next year, I will dedicate myself to a long madness, rabbits are no longer a challenge for me – revealed Jankov, who received a prize of up to 100,000 dinars.

Goran Lazić from Kikinda is the official world record holder for the production of long squash. This was confirmed last year in Slovenia, where he wore a jacket 395.4 centimeters long. This year, at Kikinda’s house, he won with a 312-centimeter-long madman. Vice-champion is Stevan Matić from Zemun with a 290-centimeter fruit, and third place was taken by Istvan Varga from Temerin, whose pumpkin is 284 centimeters long.
