The director of the Institute of Public Health “Milan Jovanović Batut”, Dr. Verica Jovanović, tells RTS that they did not consider the option of banning the movement in the Crisis Personnel session, and pointed out that if the existing measures are respected, they are very effective.

“We are witnessing material fatigue, but respect for the measures alone is not equally represented at all ages,” Jovanović said, adding that the older population respects the measures more, as are schoolchildren.

The director of the Clinical Center in Kragujevac, Predrag Sazdanović, told RTS that the black prognosis came true and that the number of patients in Kragujevac had doubled in the previous seven days, from 27 to 54 patients, and that a third of them they were in intensive care and a large number required oxygen support. .

He stressed that the coronavirus entered the Gerontology Center of that city and that 15 users and employees were infected. Three people were hospitalized and the rest are in the gerontology center, there are also doctors who treat them, Sazdanović added.

He pointed out that the “Šumadija Fair” is fully equipped and that 150 beds are ready to receive patients with a clearer clinical picture.

“We call on all citizens to protect themselves, wear masks, keep their distance and beware of illegal gatherings,” Sazdanović said.

The Nis “Silla” ward will once again be converted into a covid hospital, the Nis city administration announced.

At the same time, the Kragujevac “Šumadija Fair” has been adapted and equipped as a temporary hospital for today.

At the Kragujevac Clinical Center, 50 patients are being treated for problems caused by the coronavirus.

Asked if a limited number of people could be considered in the next matches, Kisic said that at this moment, with the increase in the number of cases of infection, any meeting of this type is a risk and that so far it has been proven that the measures have not been respected.

“In the next period, we only have one important game: the fight against the coronavirus,” Kisic noted.

When asked why a state of emergency and a movement ban were introduced in March, and there were fewer cases of infection than now, Kisic said that we now have more experience, but there are fewer hospitalizations and there are fewer serious cases among them.

“At first, the whole world was surprised by the intensity of this virus and nobody was prepared for this type of disease, which spreads rapidly,” Kisic said, adding that we were afraid of the experiences in Italy and Spain, where the facilities were too small to receive all the patients who needed help.

“Our priority was to act preventively and prevent the wave from being like the tsunami that occurred in some countries, and at that time, with restrictions, we managed to preserve our older fellow citizens,” Kisic emphasized.

Meanwhile, tests were acquired, new respirators were built, laboratories were built and the capacities of hospitals were increased, Kisic said.

The director of KBC “Bežanijska kosa”, Marija Zdravković, said they have 155 patients, and most of them have a moderate and severe clinical picture. He pointed out that today there were 12 discharges at that health institution, and a patient who spent 41 days on a respirator was discharged.

Dr. Marija Zdravković stated that Serbia is currently a bright spot on the covid map of Europe and that we should try to keep it that way, even though the numbers are scary.

As to whether the clinical picture now differs relative to June and July, Zdravković says that at that time there were bilateral pneumonias that developed very rapidly and those patients had a rapid-arrival ventilator clinical picture.

At the moment, the numbers we detect of those infected are high, but for now there are fewer of these more serious cases that respond poorly to therapy, Zdravković added.

Dr. Kisić stated that 85% of those newly infected in the previous weeks were in the age group up to 60 years.

This tells us that healthy citizens and the youngest adults are at the highest risk, Kisic added.

“Our older fellow citizens should be our role models, who, aware that they are at higher risk, behave in the most conscious way,” Kisić said, adding that young people who adhere to the measures in schools also they are role models because there was no major infection in school settings.

The number of hospitalizations is about 15 percent of the total confirmed cases, Kisic said, adding that only moderate and severe pneumonias are hospitalized.

In the last week, 2,396 cases have been registered in Serbia, of which 1,185 are in Belgrade, almost 50 percent, said Dr. Darija Kisić at the press conference.
