“A neighbor came and told me that my son’s name was mentioned in the context of this big arrest, but I don’t think so. We were very close and I’m sure he would tell me that he was related to those people. Only the last ten were they behaved strangely for days … “

With these words, Mile Kecman, the father of Belgrade fitness trainer Jovo Kecman, who lost all trace on September 24, 2020, and who is now suspected of his disappearance, connects to Veljko Belivuk’s group called Velja Nevolja.

A week earlier, Kecman had gone to meet a friend. He took a large amount of money and an identification card and left his mobile phone at home. He was last seen on Main Street at Mali Mokri Lug in Belgrade, where he told a friend to leave him because he needed to see someone. And that was the last time Kecman was seen.

Days passed and there was no sign or voice of Kecman. At first, the family suspected that he had taken refuge somewhere, as he mentioned that he had some problems that he had to solve on his own, but not being there after a week, they reported the case to the police.

Since then, some information about Kecman based on suspicions would have appeared sporadically, and among them was that he got into trouble and that his disappearance could be related to crime. The family even suspected that he was no longer alive.

Until the great action of the police, the Security Information Agency and the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office, which initiated the arrest of Veljko Belivuk and his criminal group, Kecman’s name was not officially mentioned. And then, on a television program, Bogdan Pusic, head of the Criminal Police Directorate of the Interior Ministry, read the list of people whose disappearances are linked to this group, and Jovo Kecman was also on it.

Pusic said none of the people mentioned were suspected of being alive, although there is no evidence for that yet. We contacted Father Jova Kecman, who told us that he did not believe in stories like this.

– I heard from a neighbor, he came and told me that his name is mentioned on television. I don’t believe it, I can’t believe it because we were both very close and I’m sure he would complain because he told me everything. The only thing is that those ten days before leaving were strange, but nothing more than that – the bastard barely tells us.

Štek Velje problems

The list of missing persons suspected of having been abducted and later murdered was published after police raided several cottages and barns used by Belivuk’s men. In one of them, in Ritopek, it is suspected that the victims were brought in, tortured and then their bodies destroyed to get rid of all the evidence.

– How do I feel when I hear all that? I’m about to die, here … – said an unhappy father.

During the search of the house in Vrčin, the police found a known hygienic cleaning and disinfection means and traces of blood, and traces of burns on the ground in the courtyard of the house. For all this, it is suspected that Belivuk’s team did something to liquidate the victim, destroy his body with acid, burn him or bury him.

They left their phones, they went out and never saw them again

It’s an interesting fact that Kecman left his cell phone at home before going to a gathering with friends, taking only money and an ID card. When the web of horrific circumstances surrounding other people’s disappearances began to unravel, it turned out that they did the same.

Thus, Milan Ljepoja, whose murder is personally suspected by Veljko Belivuk, took with him only a “special”, a mobile device that is used to communicate with a narrow circle of people. The investigation established that Ljepoja was last seen entering Belivuk’s weekend home from Ritopek by car. He never got out of it.

The police have been in Ritopek for days. Not only the house is searched, but also a circle of several kilometers in the immediate vicinity, because it is suspected that they could find crucial traces to shed light on the crimes in the surrounding forests. Police officers with dogs and a special diving unit also joined in the search for clues.
