I have to say: AstraZeneca, I still wouldn’t buy a used car from you | Frank in quarantine

Among all the nice, brave, encouraging, and just plain sweet emails from readers that I get every week, there are also letters from people who say that everything is a great conspiracy, covering the entire pandemic and fighting it. They warn against vaccines, which could be life-threatening. Anyone can say and think what they want about me. I don’t force anyone to inject themselves.

Sometimes I also think: some people are such disgruntled creatures. A year ago we were at the beginning of a global pandemic of which we did not dare to predict the end. “If only there was a vaccine!” we scream. But yeah, we all knew that it takes an average of ten years before there is a vaccine. Panic. How far? So there will be a vaccine, what do I say: there will be three, four substances that work well, they will be difficult: I don’t want that, I don’t want one, I don’t want a vaccine.

I want one though. And I am happy to have one soon. Like millions of others.

What I know for sure is that there are now serious consequences if I get a crown. That’s my risk assessment

“Which one do you have?” people keep asking. AstraZeneca. Yes, that’s one thing. Especially now that yesterday it was decided not to give it to people under 60 years of age due to possible dangers. I have to say: AstraZeneca, I would not buy a second hand car from you yet. I also get to that name directly visions of a rusty Fiat. A company also with all the hallmarks of Big Pharma: greed, unreliability, double bargaining, and turning customers against each other. But they have a vaccine on the market, with which half of Britain has already been vaccinated. The car is driving, so to speak.

There are better ones, I know. But I also only talk about what I read. I’m not under 60 either. That makes a difference. And serious consequences in ten years? Scientists I trust say they are not there. What I know for sure is that there are now serious consequences if I get a crown. That is my risk assessment.

I have trusted my doctor’s drug choice for 64 years. Not blindly, but it never happened that I suggested another manufacturer of a drug that she recommended. I told him about it and this is the best i can get right now. There is no choice and I cannot afford to pass up vaccination.
