Beatriz Staudinger, who is preparing for the National Baccalaureate Exam (ENEM), asked for a notebook as a gift to accompany her online classes at the university. The purchase was made online and, to the student’s surprise, she had two problems with the device.
Upon receiving the device at home, the young woman noticed that the notebook was broken. Her father, Bruno Staudinger, a lawyer and member of the Consumer Protection Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) in Pernambuco, sought out the company that sold the product and requested a friendly exchange, but said she did not receive the expected return. .
“They gave us a deadline to pick up the faulty device, let’s not change it, we just pick it up, and even so, they did not meet that deadline,” said the lawyer.
After more than two months of waiting and a lawsuit, Beatriz received another box from the company, but instead of the book a piece of wood was found. “I opened it here and a wood came, there is nothing else in the box,” said the young woman.
Bruno Staudinger prosecuted another action to try to solve the problem. “I understand that this is a crime against the consumer, I will report this to the judge, this negligence. We are seeking retraction, both the exchange of the device and the issue of compensation for non-material damage, ”said the lawyer.
In response to TV Globo, the Casas Bahía store stated that it repudiates harmful practices to consumers and that it is investigating what happened in this case. The company also said it is in contact with the family to deliver the laptop as soon as possible.
