A 36-year-old woman jumped from the first floor of a building to escape an assailant who allegedly tried to sexually abuse her, in Goiânia, on Friday morning (29).
Images from security cameras at the site and a nearby establishment show the moment when the young woman jumps and falls sitting on the sidewalk. After the fall, the woman remains in place, unable to get up.
According to the police report, the man entered the hall of an establishment, which is located in Parque Oeste Industrial, approached the woman and an employee and announced a robbery. The suspect then allegedly touched the victim’s private parts.
With a knife he would have threatened to kill one of the women if she refused to have sex with him.
The two then went up to the top floor of the establishment and in a moment of distraction from the man, the woman managed to open the window and jump. It was thrown from a height of about four meters.
In the fall, the victim fell sitting on the sidewalk and was injured. She was rescued and transferred to the Goiânia Dr. Valdemiro Cruz Emergency Hospital (HUGO), where she remains hospitalized.
According to hospital staff, the woman had to undergo spinal surgery and her health is considered to be fair, but there is still no discharge prognosis.
After the crime, the suspect fled to a forest area by bicycle and has not yet been located by the police. He took two cell phones from the victims. The case is being investigated by the Specialized Police for Attention to Women (Deam).
The local employee was not injured.
