In the Senate vote on the release of funds for the production of vaccines against covid-19, Senator Alessandro Vieira (Cidadania-SE) harshly criticized the immunization schedule announced yesterday by the Minister of Health, Eduardo Pazuello.
“By the time we deliberately decided to start the vaccination process in March alone, we are potentially talking about almost 60,000 more deaths, considering the numbers we have today of daily deaths,” Vieira said. “It is a political election that kills people.”
For the senator from Sergipe, scheduling the start of vaccination for such a distant date is unacceptable. “This surely slides to the limit of the crime of responsibility, not to mention the common crime,” he believes.
Vieira emphasized that Congress is guaranteeing resources and making legislative changes to help the government.
“Unfortunately, it is clear that the government’s political decisions are negative for the health of Brazilians,” he warns. “This is very objectionable, and I say more: it will undoubtedly have consequences for the citizen who suffers and for politicians who irresponsibly choose to politicize a vaccine and not serve the citizen well.”
