Personal Income Tax: Project extends declaration delivery deadline to July

Bill 639/21 extends the term to send the income tax return to the Federal Treasury for the 2020 calendar year for 90 days.

The current deadline for filing the personal income tax return is April 30. With the proposal, it would be for July 31, 2021.

The text, which is pending in the Chamber of Deputies, also determines that the refund lots will begin to be paid on May 20 of this year.

IR 2021 extension

The author of the project, Deputy Rubens Bueno (Cidadania-PR) defends the extension of the deadline to allow taxpayers to have enough time to obtain all the documents required for the correct completion of the declaration in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There is, at this time, no plausible justification for us to make them leave the house to obtain the necessary documents for the tax return,” he said.

In addition, he affirmed that the measure is fundamental since the companies cannot maintain their normal operation.

“We believe that such a measure is of utmost importance to maintain the financial health of taxpayers at this time of deep economic crisis that we are going through,” he concludes.
