The Civil Police identified a man suspected of having threatened to kill the elected councilor of Joinville, in the north of Santa Catarina, Ana Lúcia Martins (PT) last week. Ana Lúcia, the first black councilor elected in the city, was the victim of threats and racial injuries after the result of the 2020 municipal elections. The execution of the order took place in the Paranaguamirim neighborhood, in the southern region of the municipality. According to research, at least on social media posts he acted alone. Even so, the case continues: “Maybe there were people behind it,” said the delegate.

Electronic equipment, such as computers and cell phones, were detained at the residence and will undergo an investigation. The Public Ministry of Santa Catarina (MPSC) is following the case.

Following the disclosure of the case, the Plenary of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB / SC) repudiated the attacks on Ana Lúcia. The agency approached the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), requesting priority in the investigation of the crime.

Ana was born in the Floresta neighborhood, in the southern area of ​​Joinville, she worked as a public official, teacher and is one of the leaders in the defense of the rights of women, black population, immigrants and peripheral communities of the city, which is the largest electoral college in Santa Catarina. .
