On New Year’s Eve, the Prime Minister dispersed irregular parties with crowds in various parts of Rio. In Ipanema, a crowd gathered in the arena without a mask. In Santa Teresa, a major from the Fire Department tried to get the police to stop working and was arrested.
Wednesday night (30) was marked by crowds on Ipanema Beach with dozens of people drinking and dancing without worrying about the crowds. The scene caught the attention of those who passed by. Early in the morning of Thursday (31), the Military Police intervened.

Even with the police, many people stayed in the sand and on the boardwalk. Virtually none of them wore a mask. Glass, plastic and dirt bottles were left in the sand.

In Santa Teresa, in the central region of Rio, a party had many people enjoying the music at full volume and without worrying about social distance or the use of masks. The party ended in the evening, with the arrival of PM.

In the bars of Lapa and Zona Sul, many regulars did not respect the distance measurements either. In Barra da Tijuca, residents searched a crowd on the street.
Crowd scenes were also seen in the Lake District. In Cabo Frio, a crowd seized the Praia do Forte boardwalk. In Búzios, many people gathered on the street in the center of the city and few people wore a mask.

In the community of Cidade Alta, in Cordovil, in the North Zone of Rio, neighbors denounce a great party since the beginning of Wednesday night. They claim that disregard for the rules of social distancing has been repeated for several nights.
Tents were set up on Rua Água Doce. The loud sound coming out of the boxes on a large stage annoys those who live in the area.

To avoid new crowds, the Fire Department task force achieved a 40% increase in the number of employees. The objective is that the inspection actions are increased by 100%.
The reinforcement takes place until January 4. However, the effort to combat agglomerations intensifies from 1:00 p.m. on Thursday until 5:00 a.m. on Friday (1st).
There are 43 teams that go to the event venues. Since the beginning of operations, on November 25, 637 administrative procedures have been opened, which include issuance of notifications, notices of infractions and interdictions, 147 interdictions and 365 complaints about crowds at events.
RJ reaches 25.3 thousand deaths from Covid-19
Rio de Janeiro registered on Wednesday (30) more 224 deaths and 2,114 confirmed cases of Covid-19, according to data from the State Department of Health, in total the state has 25,303 deaths and 428,373 counted cases.
Last week, the state of Rio entered the red flag in the risk classification of Covid-19, which means a high risk of disease. This is the first time this has happened since the state government began monitoring it in July.
Five of the nine regions are under the red flag: Metropolitana I, Bahía Ilha Grande, Cordillera, North and Northwest. These regions concentrate 75% of the state’s population.
