In times of a coronavirus pandemic, a cough or a chill may be enough to alert us. As the disease is new and scientists are still investigating it, every day there is new information about the way it manifests in our body.
However, some signs have already been established and today serve as a parameter to determine who needs to isolate themselves at home or seek medical help.
According to data from the State Department of Health (Sesa), cough is the main symptom of Covid-19 in the state, since 64% of the 1944 patients treated until Monday have reported it (27). Secondly, comes fever (57.8%) and headache (43.16%).
Less frequently, people infected with Sars-Cov-2 in the state said they also experience a sore throat, diarrhea, and a runny nose. Although not monitored by the secretariat, some patients with the virus also report loss of smell, muscle pain, and chills.
ASYMPTOMATIC ARE MAJORITIES
It is important to keep in mind that, since the number of tests is limited, most of the people evaluated were those who presented symptoms and sought medical attention.
However, according to a study based on the Chinese population, at least half of people infected with the new coronavirus have no symptoms. The researchers estimate that the percentage of asymptomatic patients is between 49% and 77%.
More serious
A quarter of those who tested positive for the disease (482 people) reported a sign in the state that may represent worsening infection with the new coronavirus, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing.
However, among those who needed hospitalization, almost 60% had this symptom.
