In an extraordinary meeting held on Monday (30), the board of Aneel (National Electric Power Agency) decided to reactivate the Tarifa Banderas system.
With that, as of this Tuesday (1), the Patamar 2 red flag is established, with a cost of R $ 6,243 for every 100 kWh consumed.
Aneel’s decision revokes what the agency had stipulated in May of this year, which said that due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the green flag would remain in effect until December 31.
The justification for the revocation in the last month of the year was the drop in the level of storage in hydroelectric dams and the resumption of energy consumption.
“With the announcement of the red flag at level 2, it is important that consumers seek to avoid wasting water and energy,” said ANEEL CEO André Pepitone.
Created by Aneel, the tariff flag system acts as a signal for the electricity consumer to know, month by month, the conditions and costs of generation in the country.
When production in hydroelectric plants is favorable, the green flag is activated, without an increase in the rate. In bad conditions, the yellow, red 1 or red 2 flags can be activated.
