The coronavirus pandemic has changed people’s everyday lives, especially health professionals and patients. To avoid overcrowding in hospitals and clinics, telemedicine has become a great ally. Pioneer in the service directed to Covid-19, Unimed Goiânia registered more than 2000 calls until April 30. The service opened on March 26 and has since been widely accepted by doctors and patients.

According to the director of the Goiânia Unimed Technical Council, Lorena de Castro Diniz, the Cooperative had a very positive return on telemedicine services. “I appreciate this acceptance. It is a tool that opened a window of opportunities, since the beneficiary feels safe and assisted, and the doctor has the possibility of continuing to provide support, even at a distance, “says the director.

Student Fabiana Ribeiro Pires used the service and approved it. “The doctor was very careful and attentive, asked many questions and answered me without haste. The image and audio quality also surprised me. I even recommended it to several acquaintances. Telemedicine allowed me to be seen without having to leave the house, which pleased me a lot, since I have two children and at the moment I cannot leave them with anyone, ”he says.

“It is very important that this means of assistance exists, since it is a way for people to consult and answer questions without leaving home, thus guaranteeing social isolation, so necessary so that we do not have a Covid-19 explosion and an overload in the health system ”, says the president of the cooperative, Sérgio Baiocchi Carneiro.

In the Virtual Office, the beneficiaries will receive assistance and, depending on their clinical condition, they will be guided on the procedure to follow, in accordance with the guidelines and directives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health (MS). If the patient needs it, they will be referred to our service network for a face-to-face exam ”, explains the director.

The service channel is exclusively for people with suspicions or doubts related to the coronavirus, according to the president of the Cooperative, who adds that the security of the patient’s data is safe, since the system used by Unimed is already used and tested , even in government agencies. . “It is the same system used by the Federal University of Goiás as a telemedicine aimed at studies, with a very robust protection system, obeying all the security standards required by current legislation,” says the president of the cooperative.

Currently, the Virtual Office is made up of 56 doctors and nursing technicians who perform the pre-service, working every day from 7 am to 7 pm. Calls are made through the “Unimed Goiânia Client” application, available for iOS and Android.
