Technician Marcelo Veiga, from São Bernardo, died today at the age of 56 after complications from covid-19. The death was confirmed by the technician’s press office. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Santa Casa de Bragança Paulista.
Marcelo Veiga had tested positive for coronavirus on November 13. The technician had worse health in the following days and was in a delicate situation since the last 20 days.
With passes in various clubs in the country, Veiga was in São Bernardo since the beginning of the year, coming from Ferroviário-CE. He also commanded Botafogo-SP, Portuguesa and Bragantino, among other clubs.
Veiga’s main relationship in soccer throughout his career was with Bragantino. There were 516 games on six occasions leading the São Paulo inland team, crowned with hits and the title of Series C of the Brazilian Championship in 2007.
Red Bull Bragantino released a note of condolence after confirming the coach’s death.
“His legacy and importance are undeniable for the club, which pays tribute by wishing strength to friends and family, and a step of light and peace to the coach. Thanks, Veiga! ”, Reza the note.
As a player, Marcelo Veiga began his career as a left-back for Santo André in 1982, and went through clubs such as Santos, Internacional, Goiás, Bahía and Atlético-GO. He hung up his boots in 1999, after defending Itumbiara.
