A professor at the Faculty of Law in Franca, in the interior of São Paulo, is being accused of harassment on social networks after a video of his conversation with a student during a class on Monday (28) was published on the Internet. In the recording, the teacher asks the student to open her camera. However, the student claims that she cannot and will only keep the audio on. Information is from Marie Claire magazine.
“It must be horrible,” says the professor. “No, it’s not that. I was just going to take a shower and I’m undressed, I can’t open it”, the student answers. After the answer, the teacher insists: “Open the camera there.” “No, I won’t open it,” he says. student.
“Are you kidding me? After the video was released, a message attributed to the teacher also began to circulate on social networks. “I inform you that, until my second request, if any, for a joke that occurred yesterday, between games, and that has caused discomfort, through malicious comments, to a colleague, all the students, day and night, are without a colon of work ”, says the supposed statement of the professor.
In a note, also published on social networks, the Academic Directory of the Faculty of Law of Franca repudiated the “acts of moral and sexual harassment reported by the students.” According to the board of directors, a letter was submitted for the university to open an investigation to assess the teacher’s behavior.

The Academic Directory of the Faculty of Law of Franca learned what happened in the promotion of Criminal Law of the 4th year of September 28, 2020. Initially, it is important to highlight that students should not share and disclose this situation in groups or between individuals because it is an exhibition that should not occur for one of the parties. At that time, Professor Dr. William Tristão was speaking with a student by audio, in which he asked her to open the camera. The fact is that when he informed him that he could not open the camera, since he was going to the bathtub and was not dressed properly, the teacher insisted, even mentioning the corresponding scores. The Academic Directory “28 de Março” repudiates the acts of moral and sexual harassment reported by students of the Faculty of Law of Franca – FDF. We reiterate, as an already expressed agenda, that all kinds of abuse, aggravated by manipulation through the power relations instituted in the academy, is absolutely unacceptable. Such practices, despite the tone of the game, damage not only the ethics of educational relationships, but also the process of scientific construction and the responsibility of institutions in the formation of human resources. We recall that harassment is often encouraged and practiced repeatedly, anchored in the perspective of impunity and corporatist permissibility. We believe that justice should prevail in the Faculty, since it is the space for the construction and self-reflection of society, so this type of situation is unacceptable, even if it is based on the friendship between teacher and student. For this reason, the Academic Directory is in solidarity with the students, reaffirms the commitment to combat harassment in the academy and to be by the side of the students, enforcing this representation, in the search for better teaching and research conditions. The Academic Directory presented today a letter requesting the opening of an investigation to evaluate the conduct of the teacher, requiring the imposition of the sanctions provided for in article 187 and points of the Internal Regulations of the FDF.
