The Ministry of Health reported on Friday (24) that the patients of the Unified Health System (SUS) will have virtual consultations in primary health care posts starting in May.
Virtual consultations will be carried out by medical and nursing teams and constitute one of the ministry’s strategies to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus. The estimated amount for the execution of the service is R $ 4,023 million.
According to the ministry, around 20,000 doctors and nurses working in family health units across the country will receive training to use the system, which will have 24-hour technical support and will offer a certificate for the practice of telemedicine and telehealth.
In addition to the virtual office, the population can access TeleSus for pre-clinical care by phone, online chat and follow-up request in case of suspicion of covid-19.
“Investing in technology is an efficient strategy to reduce the spread of the virus and minimize the indirect impacts caused by the pandemic, such as the postponement of care related to other diseases, especially chronic diseases,” says the National Secretary for Primary Care of Cheers, Erno Harzheim
The first version of the platform will be initially available to physicians, with expansion for nurses and a multidisciplinary team, in the second half of May.
