The government of São Paulo will tighten the restrictive quarantine measures due to the worsening of the pandemic COVID-19 in the state. Starting this Friday (22), the red phase of the São Paulo Plan will be valid for all the cities of São Paulo from 8:00 p.m., every day of the week. On weekends and holidays, the measure will be valid during the day and night. The information is from Folha.
The measure will prohibit the operation of bars, restaurants, non-essential businesses such as shopping centers and services such as beauty salons until the morning of the next day.
According to Folha, in the first 21 days of this year, the increase in Covid-19 cases was 42% compared to the same period in December 2020. The number of deaths increased 39%.
According to the report, the decision to toughen the restrictive measures was taken on Thursday night at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
The official announcement should be made at a press conference this Friday, in which, according to Folha, the state government should also launch a package to increase hospital beds, both for ICUs and wards. The forecast is that more than 700 new vacancies will open, probably in a field hospital scheme.
