Homeless man João Coelho Guimarães, 45, who became known for winning a “store toilet” last week, managed to find a sister after 10 years without contact.
Maria Guimarães lives in Brasilia, from where she left to travel to Goiânia, where João lives, who recognized the homeless person after reading an article about the transformation of his brother’s gaze.
In the reunion between the two, Maria hugged her brother, who timidly returned her affection. João recognized his sister and remembered that he has three other brothers.
The sister, in addition to seeing João, wished that he could agree to live with her or even spend a few days at her house. João, for his part, did not accept Maria’s invitation. Even so, the sister was not saddened, she stated that the simple fact of seeing him again and being able to hear from her in the future has already made her happy.
“He said he doesn’t want to go. I respect. Love is not by force. You have to want it. Just knowing that he is here, asking him not to leave and that we keep in touch, it’s worth it, ”said Maria.
João’s sister returned to Brasilia, but emphasized that she will continue to seek news of her brother and that she intends to visit him more often.
