Herzem Gusmão was born on June 2, 1948 in Vitória da Conquista. He began his career working in a radio, at the age of 20. He is a lawyer and has a postgraduate degree in Communication and Journalism from the Southwest Bahia State University (Uesb).

In 2014 he was elected deputy state deputy. A year later, he assumed the position where he remained for 15 months.

In 2016, Herzem Gusmão was elected, also in the second round, mayor of Vitória da Conquista. On the occasion he beat Zé Raimundo, who was defeated again this Sunday.

In his government plan, Herzem Gusmão promised to guarantee the good management of public resources, promote the rationalization of the internal processes of the city and maintain the balance of municipal public accounts. The conqueror affirmed that he will consolidate the implementation of the Municipal Civil Guard and promote improvements in the physical structure of the Health Units, ensuring quality care for the entire population.

Still in health, the re-elected mayor said that he will implement new health academies in the neighborhoods and expand the supply of medicines from the Basic Pharmacy, respecting the precepts of the SUS.

OR G1 made a series of reports with proposals that are included in the government plan of the re-elected mayor in the areas of health, education, mobility and public safety.

Bahía, which has almost 15 million inhabitants, is the fourth largest electoral college in the country with 10,893,320 voters. It is only behind the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.

Only Feira de Santana and Vitória da Conquista of the 417 municipalities decided on Sunday (29) who will occupy the position of mayor of the cities as of January 1, 2021. The managers of the other 415 cities were defined in the first round, on the 15th of November.
