Basic education schools must measure the temperature of students and teachers, force the use of a mask and respect the minimum distance of 1 meter for returning to face-to-face classes in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, says the Ministry of Health in a policy document released. this Friday 18, published the State Agency.
The return date is defined by states and municipalities. In the document, Saúde recommends that the return of students and professionals with chronic diseases be evaluated “case by case”. The guide does not have the power to dictate the rules of the didactic units, but it serves as a guide.
The ministry also reported that it has already transferred R $ 545.3 million to support the resumption of classes to the municipalities that participate in the Health at School program. The money is destined to the purchase of cleaning and disinfection materials, 70% gel or liquid alcohol, masks, infrared thermometers, in addition to the “promotion and prevention of health” of covid-19.
In the document, Saúde repeats general care against covid-19, such as the constant use of a mask, care when coughing and sneezing, hygiene of the environments and a minimum distance of 1 meter.
The ministry recommends guiding parents or guardians to take students to medical attention if the child has flu-like symptoms. Local health authorities must be notified of suspected cases. In confirmed cases, schools must be informed and activities “must be re-evaluated.”
The document, however, does not address the search for people who had contact with the suspects or infected, in addition to the minimum isolation time before returning to school.
Health advises that schools should schedule student arrival and dismissal times, in addition to breaks, so that classes do not meet. She also recommends avoiding the use of common areas, such as libraries and playgrounds.
Physical activities should be done outdoors, keeping your distance and wearing a mask. Meals, Health advises, should be taken in the classroom or in a staggered manner in the cafeterias, with cleaning of the environment between class changes.
Saúde recommends suspending the use of shared lockers. In addition, special activities, such as music or theater classes, must take place in the same place of regular, distance or suspended studies.
In kindergartens, care must be “redoubled”, with the hygiene of toys and environments. Saúde states that he discussed the development of the guide with the Ministry of Education.
Special students also demand specific care, says Saúde Children and professionals who need to do or interpret lip reading can wear transparent masks.
The MEC affirms that it will also release a “biosafety protocol”, in addition to providing for the transfer of R $ 525 million to the schools account.
As Estadão showed, at least since the beginning of July, Saúde was discussing a guide to return to face-to-face classes. Another guideline is to make marks on the floor to show the distance between the students. Health does not address the maximum occupancy of rooms, but recommends that they be clean and well ventilated.
“We have to adapt to the new reality. Where we will absorb habits, all combined with a future vaccine. But we cannot stop living. And with all possible security, we have to start this resumption of activities, which are necessary even for our mental health, “said the executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, Elcio Franco, in a press interview.
On Wednesday 16, during the inauguration of Eduardo Pazuello in Health, President Jair Bolsonaro said that the schools should not have closed due to the pandemic. “We are the country with the highest number of days in school closings. This is absurd, ”he said. (State agency information)
