The Municipality of São Paulo and the state government decided not to increase the transportation rate in the São Paulo capital, which will continue to have a unit value of R $ 4.40 in 2021. The measure applies to tickets for municipal buses, Metro and CPTM.

In a joint note published on Tuesday (29), the administrations Bruno Covas (PSDB) and João Doria (PSDB) affirmed that the suspension of the adjustment was due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Considering the economic and health crisis that families experienced due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the State Government and the Municipality of São Paulo decided that the prices of tickets for Metrô, CPTM and municipal buses will remain the same, in R $ 4 40 ”, said the statement.

On the 23rd, Covas and Doria also decided to suspend free public transport for people over 60 to 65 years old. The measure takes effect from January 1.
