A GloboNews team captured the moment when the military police arrived at the Poderoso bar, on Luiz Dummont Villares Avenue, in Jardim São Paulo, Santana region, around 5:30 pm. The PMs spoke to whoever seemed to be in charge of the bar, the music was reduced and the police left minutes later. Then the sound rang out again and more customers arrived.

Around 7:30 pm, the PM returned with more vehicles and closed the street from the bar. Everyone on the terrace came down and drew the curtains. Then, the PM entered the establishment to accompany the sanitary surveillance inspectors.

The surveillance representative told GloboNews that the manager would be taken to the police station. The owner of the bar must answer for violating the São Paulo plan, disrespect for the distance, wearing a mask, crowding and disrespect for the smoke-free law. When I entered the bar, there were 125 customers and 25 employees.

The bar was fined for receiving about 30 customers without a mask, which generates a total fine of about R $ 150 thousand. A police report will be opened in the 20th Police District, on Água Branca Avenue.

The bar has just closed its doors, but it is not sealed. According to state surveillance, this is the responsibility of the city of São Paulo, which was not present.

The prime minister said, in a note, that he provides support to health surveillance agencies and advises the public on ways to prevent Covid-19.

The mayors of 18 municipalities chose not to follow the determination of the state government that put all the municipalities of the state in the red phase of the São Paulo plan during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties.
