RS Government places Porto Alegre and 12 other regions in the red flag on the preliminary map

The Government of Rio Grande do Sul classified 13 red flag regions, including Porto Alegre, in the preliminary map of the 29th round of Controlled Distance. As announced on Friday afternoon, the areas that were evaluated as high epidemiological risk of contagion by coronavirus, in addition to the Capital, are Caxias do Sul, Uruguaiana, Erechim, Palmeira das Missões, Passo Fundo, Guaíba, Santa Maria and Lajeado, which links the regions of Novo Hamburgo, Capão da Canoa, Canoas and Ijuí, continues in the red in this round.

According to the state government, the 27% increase (from 923 to 1,171 cases) in hospitalizations for Covid-19 and hospitalizations in ICU beds caught the attention of the Controlled Distance team, in addition to the 65% increase (from 171 to 282 cases)) in the number of deaths, causing the return of a large number of regions in red.

The areas of Bagé, Taquara, Cachoeira do Sul, Santa Cruz do Sul, Pelotas, Santo Ângelo, Santa Rosa and Cruz Alta are in orange flag.



This Friday, Rio Grande do Sul counted 37 new deaths from Covid-19, totaling 6,447 deaths from coronavirus. The daily bulletin of the State Health Secretariat (SES) also recorded the volume of 3,414 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, causing the State to reach 293,221 infected since the beginning of the pandemic. These cases, according to state data, are already distributed by all the municipalities of the state.

Increase of indicators

After the reconsideration of the flag attended by the Crisis Office, in round 28, the Porto Alegre region returned to the high risk classification due to the deterioration of important indicators. According to the RS government survey, the Capital registered, in the last week, a jump in terms of ICU bed occupancy both for Covid-19 cases (from 276 to 284), and for severe acute respiratory syndrome ( SRAG), from 295 to 312.

As a result, there was a decrease in the supply of free beds for intensive care in the region, which now has 216 units; in the previous week, there were 239, the government data indicated. Still according to the state evaluation, Porto Alegre also recorded progress in the accumulated seven days in terms of hospitalizations in clinical beds: they were 269 compared to 231 last week.

According to the RS government, municipalities and regional associations can present, until 6:00 am on Sunday, requests for reconsideration, which will be analyzed so that the final flags are released on Monday. The new phase of Controlled Distance officially goes into effect on Tuesday.
