According to Jorge Felippe, in an interview with RJ2, from TV Globo, the scheme provides for the prohibition of vehicles starting at 8:00 p.m. on December 31, with the exception of residents. The metro stations, from Central to Barra da Tijuca, as well as the buses, will also not have access to Copacabana from the same schedule.
– The playgrounds around the kiosks will be prohibited, any type of event is prohibited. The occupation of fixed street vendors in the sand and playing areas in the sand is also prohibited. In the last week, Marcelo Crivella had already canceled the alternative New Year’s Eve party in Rio. Faced with the impossibility of carrying out the traditional model, with shows and fireworks on Copacabana beach, the city had opted for an option without crowds: virtual transmission of presentations. on six stages throughout the city and light shows. But the new increase in Covid-19 cases has influenced the abortion of this project.
Days later, the municipality also banned private New Year’s Eve parties at kiosks on the city’s waterfront. Fee-for-entry playgrounds, shows, or events along the shoreline are prohibited, either on the sand or on the boardwalk at the end of the year.
