Mayor Duarte Nogueira (PSDB) announced, in a press conference at the end of the afternoon this Friday (4), that he will not accept the decision to demote Ribeirão Preto to the orange phase of the São Paulo Plan.
The Chief Executive said that he has already informed the Government of São Paulo that he will keep Ribeirão Preto in the yellow phase. The City Council also asked the State to review the decision. Nogueira also intends to prosecute the issue.
The municipal secretary of Health of Ribeirão Preto, Sandro Scarpelini, made it clear at the press conference that he does not agree with the degradation of the region to the orange phase of the São Paulo Plan.
For Sandro, the Ribeirão Preto region is in a similar situation to that of the Rio Preto and Litoral regions, which remained in the yellow belt. The secretary stressed that the service capacity of the health network has positive figures both in the occupation of beds and in the availability of vacancies per 100 thousand inhabitants.
The decision announced by the City Council maintains, until further notice, the bars, restaurants, gyms, beauty salons and the like operating according to pre-established norms.
