Until then, only industries that supplied products to other sectors considered essential could operate.
The Minas Gerais government updated the resolution detailing what municipalities must do in the purple wave, which covers the entire state until at least March 31. With few other news in the edition published on Wednesday (17), industries in all segments are now considered essential. Until this Tuesday (16), only some segments, such as the production of health items, were included among essential services.
The change comes after a dialogue between the government and the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (Fiemg), according to the president of the entity, Flávio Roscoe. “We were able to sensitize the government by explaining that the interdependence between the industrial sectors made the whole industry fundamental. We do not produce an industrialized product, such as food, without plastic, aluminum and cardboard for packaging, without a label and without products that make up the food, ”he says, in a video posted on the federation’s social networks.
As a result, workers in the industrial sector can move freely to go to factories. Industries are not restricted by curfew and can operate after 8pm.
In updating the deliberation of the purple wave, the government of Minas Gerais also detailed that conservation and cleaning services are considered essential, in addition to domestic and therapeutic services, which were already planned. The document also says that other sectors that are not authorized to operate can request changes to the State Health Secretariat (SES-MG) and the State Economic Development Secretariat (Sede-MG), which will evaluate the request.
