Samuel Flam admits that unemployment caused by the pandemic will leave many people without health insurance, but he believes that the country will quickly emerge from the crisis.
During Live time This Thursday (30), the president of Unimed-BH, Samuel Flam, spoke about the expectation of the impact of unemployment caused by the pandemic of the new coronavirus. “Our expectation is that there will be a loss, yes (from customers), but we expect there to be a rapid recovery in the economy,” Flam said.
Without making projections on the subject, Flam cited as an example the crisis that affected the health insurance segment in 2015, when Unimed-BH, according to him, lost 5% of its contracts, around 70 thousand clients. “At the end of 2019, we had already surpassed and recovered these clients, which we recovered due to the quality standard of the services provided by Unimed-BH,” he said.

Recruitment and planning
Since the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil, Unimed-BH has opened 200 new beds, 30 of them in the ICU, with the recruitment of 350 health professionals. “If new beds need to be opened, we will make new hires.” For Flam, the impacts generated by Covid-19 today prevent any company from developing strategic planning. For him, the world will have “a new normal” after the pandemic.
“All the strategic planning, from any company, as of March, could not predict a pandemic with this virulence. Therefore, at this time, we are running a shorter forecast period, doing everything necessary to guarantee the best service to our clients. We will take a little time to understand this new normality, in the post pandemic, to establish a new strategic plan and investment cycle, “he concluded.
