Piauí advances the holidays, prohibits the sale of drinks and suspends transport O Dia

Brasilia – After anticipating the Piauí Day holiday from October 19 to Friday (15), the state government decreed even more restrictive measures of social isolation than those already implemented to try to contain the increase in the number of COVID cases- 19.

Valid for the entire territory of Piauí between zero hours on Friday and midnight on Sunday (17), the new rules for the operation of commercial establishments and the movement of people are established in Decree No. 18,978, published in the Official Gazette of the State.

The measure prohibits crowds and the consumption of beverages in public places. At this point, the text of the decree is generic, without distinction between drinks. Only when it comes to the demand for greater traffic control, the text cites the need to curb the driving of vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Despite this, Governor Wellington Dias said on his Twitter that the sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.

Until midnight on Saturday (16), only pharmacies and pharmacies may operate; Health services; bakeries supermarkets; gas stations; tire repair shops; delivery services and security and surveillance.

During this period, the bank branches responsible for the payment of R $ 600 emergency aid or other social benefits are also authorized to operate, in addition to the telecommunications, broadcasting and press services.

Between zero hour and midnight on Sunday, only pharmacies, pharmacies, health services, the press, security and surveillance services, food delivery services and bank self-service may operate; as well as tire shops, service stations and food outlets located next to the highways.

During Sunday, the food points that operate on the side of the roads can only serve drivers in transit, and will only work if they are duly authorized by the municipality.

Intercity passenger transport services, including charter service, will be suspended from noon on Friday until midnight on Sunday. The only exception provided is in the case of vehicles to transport patients undergoing health treatment. Those who do not comply with the rule may retain their vehicle and receive a fine, and may also face other penalties.

During the 72-hour period of the decree, only the essential public services responsible for emergency care will operate, as well as state and municipal health surveillance, responsible for supervising compliance with the measures, with the support of the police forces.
