In the midst of the lack of beds and oxygen for patients with Covid-19 in Manaus, Amazonas, the Ministry of Health of the government of Jair Bolsonaro, led by General Pazuello, created and financed a working group with doctors who defended the “ early treatment ”of Covid-19 in the Basic Health Units of the region. The information is from the Panel, from Folha de S. Paulo.

“Early treatment” is the approach taken by using drugs that are censored by the federal government but have no proven efficacy, such as chloroquine and invermectin.

Also according to the Panel, the doctors did not receive participation, but had hotel and food allowances funded by the federal government.

The task force reportedly acted last Monday (11), a day after Governor Wilson Lima (PSC) asked the federal government and other states for help due to the lack of oxygen in the state. That day, the doctors were in the hearing when Pazuello defended drugs and said that “he had no other way out.”

Folha de S. Paulo., He had access to a letter from the Ministry of Health that described as “inadmissible” the non-use of drugs such as the antimalarial chloroquine and the antiparasitic ivermectin to control the pandemic in Manaus.

The working group involves a dozen doctors from different specialties, such as infectious diseases, oncologist, dermatologist, among others, and was called ‘Mission Manaus’.

The Panel also reports that it sent three emails on the matter to the Ministry of Health over three days, but did not receive a response. In addition, the column also asked about the criteria for choosing doctors, the amount spent to carry out the contract and if there are other similar plans planned.
