The governor of Ceará, Camilo Santana, said this Friday (11) that “Parties, social and corporate events will not be allowed.“At the end of the year, including Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The determination will be published later this Friday in a decree that is valid for the entire state, according to the governor.
The event ban applies to the period of December 15 (Tuesday) to January 4, 2021.
“The objective is to stop the spread of the virus, until we have the vaccine, the acquisition of which we are doing everything possible to achieve as quickly as possible,” said Camilo Santana.
In November, the mayor of Fortaleza, Roberto Cláudio, had said that the New Year’s Eve party at the Praia de Iracema landfill is “totally ruled out.” The mayor said he is considering holding an event with online streaming.

The governor also affirmed that the opening hours of shops will be extended during the end of the year, “so that the public has more options for schedules and avoids crowds.”
“The measures were planned in order to respect health standards, seeking to preserve the economy and employment as much as possible,” justified Camilo Santana.

There is still no definitive date for the arrival of the Covid-19 vaccine to Ceará. The Health Ministry says it plans to distribute the AstraZeneca / Oxford vaccine to states on March 3.
Governor Camilo Santana says he is negotiating with the state of São Paulo to acquire, before March, the Coronavac vaccine, a drug developed in China and produced by the Butantan Institute in São Paulo.

The number of cases and deaths from Covid-19 in Ceará has increased again in recent weeks in Ceará. A document released on Friday by the Health Department indicates that 19 of the 22 health areas had an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
In nine of them there was also an increase in the number of deaths from the disease. The Brejo Santo region had the highest rates of cases (139%) and deaths (300%).
In Great Fortress, there was a 55% increase in the number of deaths and 33% in positive cases disease.
