“It is clear that there was collusion to cause damage to the public portfolio and that the people who should be in charge of the internal control of the operation have not done their part,” said Adircélio Ferreira, president of the TCE.

The lawsuit seized R $ 11 million from a bank account of one of those involved in the irregular purchase of 200 state respirators. To make the purchase, R $ 33 million was paid in advance to Veigamed.

In a press conference on Friday (8), the Secretary of State for Health, André Motta Ribeiro, said that the equipment can be delivered in three or four days.

Confidential investigation

The operation carried out 35 search and seizure orders for assets in Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso. Given the secrecy of the investigation, it was not confirmed whether there were arrest warrants or who the targets were.

The general delegate of the Civil Police, Paulo Norberto Koerich, said that, in addition to the R $ 11.3 million, R $ 300 thousand in cash were confiscated. Documents and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) were also collected and sent to the State Department of Health.
