The trafficker André Oliveira Macedo, known as André do Rap, was released from the Presidente Venceslau Penitentiary (SP) this Saturday morning (10). André is one of the leaders of the PCC, a criminal faction that works inside and outside São Paulo prisons. He was released thanks to a habeas corpus granted by Minister Marco Aurélio Mello, of the STF.

André do Rap was arrested in September 2019, in a luxury condominium in Angra dos Reis (RJ). He is investigated for having a leadership role within the CCP and managing the shipment of large shipments of cocaine to Europe.

In the decision that led to his release, Marco Aurélio stated that the trafficker had been provisionally imprisoned for a long time. Brazilian law changed in 2020, with the crime package, which requires provisional prisons to be reviewed every 90 days to see if it is necessary to keep the prison. According to the minister, this did not happen in the case of André do Rap.
