A video, which went viral on social networks, shows a nurse pushing a patient on a stretcher to try to avoid the kilometer jam formed on the BR-230, in the municipality of Itaituba, in the southeast of Pará.
According to the city, at least 5,000 cars are parked along the entire road while waiting for access to the Tapajós Freight Transshipment Station (ETC), the main exit route for agricultural products in the region, located in the district of Miritituba.
In the video, a nurse appears on the side of the road, trying to follow the patient on a stretcher. Without shoulder, the professional stands in front of the movement of the cars, in a triple row. In the pictures, you can also see the extent of the congestion.
The situation has lasted at least three days and, according to the local City Council, this Friday morning soldiers from the Regional Police Command blocked the passage of cargo vehicles in the Campo Verde interchange, with the aim of alleviating the flow in the BR -230. .
Most of the cars leave Mato Grosso and arrive at the place by the BR-163. Preliminary information indicates that an ETC problem would have caused companies that run the port to wait outside the yards. The average daily circulation of cargo vehicles in the Port of Miritituba is 500 trucks.
Also according to the city council, the patient who appears in the images left the municipality of Rurópolis for the Tapajós Regional Hospital in Itaituba. Facing the closed road, the nurses decided to continue on foot. After a while, the ambulance managed to continue its journey.
The Secretary of Health of Pará (Sespa) reported that the patient entered the hospital at 8:30 am on Friday 12 in the morning. Sespa also reports that the patient is undergoing treatment for covid-19, hospitalized in a clinical bed and that his health is stable. “
The Federal Highway Police said that the BR-163 is one of the main logistics corridors in the country and is used to transport the grain harvest that leaves the center of the country, especially from Mato Grosso to the ports of Pará.
“Seeking to promote road safety and mobility, the Federal Highway Police has been carrying out surveillance and inspection actions (Operation Highway) in the section of the road under the influence of the port of Miritituba.”
