This Saturday morning (28), Carlos Alberto Félix da Silva, 41, died after spending five days on a mattress on the floor while waiting to be admitted to a bed in the ICU. The patient, 300 kg, was resuscitated after two cardiopulmonary arrests, but could not resist the third.

“At least, he had a little dignity at the end of his life, he was not in the flat and he received all the attention and care possible. Unfortunately it was very serious, “said André Prudente, director of the Giselda Trigueiro Hospital.

The patient had heart failure and rhabdomyolysis. His test for Covid-19, an initial suspicion, was negative. He was admitted to the João Câmara Regional Hospital last Monday (23), presenting difficulty in breathing, purple lips and fingers, and a weak heartbeat.

Last Friday (27), Carlos’s family obtained the right to an ICU bed in a Christmas hospital in the court so that he could receive adequate treatment. At dawn this Saturday, the patient was transferred to the Giselda Trigueiro Hospital, where he died.
